About the event
160-mile paddle from Mount Vernon, Ohio to Marietta, Ohio. We would like to dedicate the 2024 paddle in honor of U.S. Marine Cpl Nathan Anderson from Howard, Ohio assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Nov. 12, 2004, by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.
Nate enlisted in the Marines in June of 2001. He was known as the heart and soul of his friend group and once said that hearing, "thank you" from other human beings that did not share the same language, made it all worthwhile.
This event is a strenuous 160-mile Paddle designed for reflection and outreach. Participants will paddle approximately 30 miles a day for up to 12 hours a day.
The first 8 veterans or first responders that commit will get their room paid for at the Lafayette Hotel Friday night May 24th in Marietta.
Only 30 paddle spots will be available. Veterans, first responders, and their paddle partners get preference.
Non-veterans/First Responders who would like to attend please contact Paddle for Heroes Vice President Joey Butts by text @ 740-258-2127 or email paddleforheroesusa@gmail.com
Please contact us for volunteer opportunities or any questions.
Please sign up by hitting that going button. The cut-off for sign-ups is May 10th.
The paddle includes five nights of camping with stops at a restaurant in Zanesville and campgrounds along the way.
